About Vedansha
At Vedansha, yoga is a living path. It’s a journey guided by authentic wisdom and practical teachings. Located in Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas, our school offers a welcoming space for personal growth and transformation.
At the center of Vedansha is our founder, Yogacharya Dr. Sanjeev Pandey Ji, whose expertise and compassionate guidance draw students from around the world to experience yoga in its purest form.
Yogacharya Dr. Sanjeev Pandey is a 7th-generation Himalayan yogi and the founder of Vedansha Institute of Vedic Science and Alternative Medicine in Rishikesh, India. His teachings are grounded in an unbroken family lineage and enriched by more than 30 years of personal practice, academic study, and international teaching experience.
Born in 1971 in Farrukhabad, India, Pandey Ji was introduced to the yogic path from a young age under the guidance of his grandfather, Sri Dayanand Pandey, a respected yogi and healer. This early training included hatha yoga, pranayama, mantra chanting, Ayurveda, puja, and Vedic astrology. Through his grandfather’s influence, he was also able to meet and learn from revered spiritual figures such as Devi Raha Baba Ji, Swami Satyananda, Baba Neem Karoli, Swami Nardananda Saraswati, and Swami Rama.
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Lucknow, he continued his education in Sanskrit, Yoga, Ayurveda, and Advaita Vedanta at traditional Gurukul centres including the Adhyatma Vidya Peeth and pilgrim ashrams in Naimisharanya. He later completed a Master’s degree in Yogic Science and Human Consciousness at Uttarakhand Sanskrit University and Gurukul Mahavidyalaya College, followed by a doctorate in Yoga Therapy and Naturopathy.
Since beginning his teaching career in 1995, Pandey Ji has become a highly respected figure in the Himalayan yoga community, known especially for his expertise in pranayama and yogic philosophy. He has taught at some of Rishikesh’s most recognised schools and continues to guide students from all over the world in their spiritual and professional development.
In 2011, he established his first school, Vedangas, offering 200, 300, and 500-hour yoga teacher trainings. In 2017, he expanded this vision with the creation of Vedansha Institute, now home to specialised courses such as Pranayama Teacher Training, Kundalini Tantra Yoga, and Swara Yoga.
Pandey Ji has also taught internationally in countries such as Russia, Poland, Thailand, Nepal, and Tibet, and continues to offer online training and global workshops. Fluent in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, he remains dedicated to his own growth and regularly attends satsangs, spiritual seminars, and visits sacred sites across India and beyond.
